Felix Morgenstern

Bodhrán player Felix Morgenstern completed degrees in Irish traditional-music performance and ethnomusicology at the University of Limerick’s Irish World Academy of Music and Dance. During his time on the B.A. Irish Music and Dance (2012–2016), he studied percussion and uilleann pipes under Jim Higgins and Blackie O’Connell. At Limerick, Felix took masterclasses with some of the most celebrated bodhrán players of the tradition, including Colm Phelan, Junior Davey, Eamon Murray, Martin O’Neill and John Joe Kelly. From 2016 to 2019, he toured extensively with the Irish dance-show production Rhythm of the Dance, performing in concert venues across Europe, Russia and China. Having previously taught at the Blas International Summer School of Irish Traditional Music and Dance in Limerick (2021) and the 2019 Spanish Peaks International Celtic Music Festival in Colorado, USA, Felix also worked with traditional band The Conifers and has been in demand as a guest percussionist on several Irish traditional records. These include pianist Deirdre Millane’s Idir Dubh Agus Bán (2019), multi-instrumentalist Cathal Ó Curráin’s Cosán Ceoil and uilleann piper Simon Pfisterer’s Another Way to Go (2022).
