Paul is a musician and composer of folk, world and jazz music. He grew up in the Austrian Waldviertel, where he first came in touch with folk music through his father, who was a founding member of the Folkclub Waidhofen/Th. Aged fifteen, Paul first began to play Irish trad music on the fiddle and one year later he started his first folk band. Since moving to Vienna for university studies, he has been playing with highly successful bands. He spent a year in Glasgow refining his fiddle style by participating in workshops and master classe with highly acknowledged players such as Catriona MacDonald, Aidan O’Rourke and Christ Stout. He has a degree in Jazz Violin having studied with Max Grosch in Klagenfurt. Paul teaches violin in Vienna at a music school and organises fiddle workshops throughout the year. He is the founder of various projects in multiple genres such as Paul Dangl Fretless, Nordwestpassage, Black Market Tune, Blue Water Iris to name a few.
