Info

The Trad Music Workshop is an annual gathering of musicians, singers and dancers eager to learn traditional music. There is a focus on music from Ireland and Scotland, but we also invite tutors from other countries and musical traditions to teach at Lockenhaus. So far we had music from Sweden, Poland, Denmark, Austria, Brittany and more, as well as dance workshops.

The workshops begin on Friday morning and end on Sunday evening. Classes take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (morning) and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. (afternoon). The tutors are scheduling the breaks as they see fit.

Please note that basic command of the instrument is a requirement for all classes. If you are a total beginner, please contact us in advance and we can discuss how you can benefit from the workshop.

Weather permitting, we will organise a barbecue for all workshop participants, friends, family and guests. We would like to ask you for a € 10,- contribution per person and to let us know in advance whether or not you will come to participate in the barbecue, so we can plan ahead (registration form).

Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available at reasonable prices, homemade cake and bread & spread will also be offered during the workshop breaks to provide you with new energy. All the profits go towards the workshops, so you are helping the event by not bringing your own.

Accommodation:

Please note participants are responsible for booking their own accommodation. A variety of rooms and apartements are available at the castle hotel or in the town of Lockenhaus.

When booking, please state that you are staying for the workshop. Please book rooms as soon as possible as the hotel sells out quickly.

The appartements/family rooms are equipped with a small self-catering kitchen. Half board, full board or breakfast only is available from the castle tavern restaurant at a surcharge. The restaurant also offers a lá carte menu.
