Paul Dangl

Paul is a musician and composer of world, folk and jazz music. He grew up in the Austrian Waldviertel, where he came in touch with folk music at an early age. Since moving to Vienna for university studies, he has been playing with highly successful bands such as Nim Sofyan (with whom he won the World Music Award 2004). He spent 2004/2005 in Glasgow refining his  fiddle style by participating in workshops and master classes with highly acknowledged players such as Catriona MacDonald, Aidan O’Rourke and Christ Stout. In June 2010 he graduated with distinction from Klagenfurt Conservatoire (now Gustav Mahler Private University of Music) in Jazz Violin and teaching. Paul works as a music teacher at various music schools in Vienna and as a musician at Burgtheater. He has founded his own Jazz Trio „Fretless“ and also works as musician and arranger with groups such as Black Market Tune, Nordwestpassage and in a duo with Kevin Dempsey.
