Paul Dangl

Paul is a musician and composer of folk, world and jazz music. He grew up in the Austrian wood-quarter, where he first came in touch with folk music through his father, who was a founding member of the Folkclub Waidhofen/Th. Aged fifteen, Paul first began to play Irish trad music on the fiddle and one year later he started his first folk band. Since moving to Vienna eight years ago, he has been playing with the extraordinary and highly successful world music band Nim Sofyan, which won the Austrian World Music Award in 2004. During a one year stay in Glasgow (Scotland) Paul refined his fiddle style by participating in workshops and master classes. Some of his teachers were highly acknowledged players such as Catriona MacDonald, Aidan O’Rourke and Christ Stout.
